Bengaluru to Sakleshpur, Karnataka
Leave Bengaluru before the city wakes up, ride through coffee country, stop for filter coffee where the estate owner still roasts it themselves, and spend the afternoon at a waterfall most tourists never find.
This is the ride we send people on when they say they want to actually feel like they went somewhere, not just drove somewhere. Rolling ghat roads, real elevation change, and a homestay dinner that beats every restaurant on the highway.
Day by day
Bengaluru (assembly point shared after booking)
Drop-off: Bengaluru (same assembly point, dropped back after the trip)
Day 1
An early roll-out on the Hassan highway, a proper South Indian breakfast on the way, then the last stretch into the green, hilly Malnad around Sakleshpur. Afternoon waterfall trek, evening at the homestay.
Assembly, briefing and bike check. Meet the lead and sweep riders, run through hand signals and the ride formation, and check tyres, chain and lights. Arrive with a full tank.
Roll out via Nelamangala onto NH75. We clear the city before traffic builds and settle into a steady pace on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru highway, past Kunigal's lakes and farmland.
Breakfast on the highway near Yediyur. Around 95 km in: hot idli-vada or dosa and strong filter coffee at a highway eatery, then a stretch and a fuel top-up.
Regroup and fuel stop past Hassan. A short halt beyond the Hassan bypass. Top up here; pumps thin out once you head into the estate roads around Sakleshpur.
Arrive Sakleshpur, check into the homestay. Hills, mist and coffee bushes under tall shade trees take over from the plains. Freshen up and rest before the afternoon.
Lunch in town. Simple meals and rice plates in Sakleshpur town, or whatever your homestay can arrange at extra cost.On your own
Guided trek to a quieter waterfall. With our local guide, a short walk through estate and forest edge to a lesser-visited fall; the exact one depends on season and water levels. Wear shoes with grip; rocks are slippery.
Back at the homestay, evening at leisure. Hot showers, tea on the verandah and the sound of the estate settling in for the night.
Homestay dinner cooked by the family. Home-style Malnad cooking served family-style; the menu follows the family and the season, so ask what's on the stove.
Day 2
Breakfast in the cool of the hills, a slow walk through a working coffee estate, then an unhurried ride back along NH75 with a lunch halt on the way.
Breakfast at the homestay. A slow start with a home-cooked breakfast and estate coffee while the morning mist lifts off the slopes.
Coffee estate walk. Walk between coffee bushes shaded by silver oak, with pepper vines climbing the trunks. Learn how the crop moves from blossom to harvest to drying yard.
Check out and pack the bikes. Load up, bike check and a quick briefing on the return route and regroup points.
Ride out towards Hassan. The estate roads give way to highway again. If you missed it on the way in, look out for the Hemavathi river near town.
Lunch halt en route. A highway lunch stop around Hassan or Channarayapatna, with thali and South Indian meals the easy choice. On your own
Tea and regroup stop. A short break to rest hands and backs before the final run into Bengaluru traffic.
Arrive Bengaluru, ride ends. Back at the assembly point. Timing depends on highway and city traffic at Nelamangala.
