Bengaluru to Gokarna, Vibhuti Falls & Dandeli, Karnataka
Sea first, then river. Gokarna is a temple town that runs straight into a string of beaches, linked by a rocky headland trail where you can walk from Kudle to Om with the Arabian Sea on one side and cashew scrub on the other. On the way inland we stop at Vibhuti falls, tucked in the forest near the limestone spires of Yana.
Dandeli sits on the Kali river inside some of Karnataka's densest forest. A night in a riverside tent, a bonfire, and a morning on the water with kayaks, a coracle-style boat ride and a swim in the calm pools, before one last sunset over the valley and the overnight drive home.
