Bengaluru to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Isha Yoga Center, at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains near Coimbatore, is home to two very different things worth the trip on their own — the 112-foot Adiyogi Shiva statue, a Guinness World Record-holder for the largest bust sculpture, and the Dhyanalinga, a unique meditative energy space designed by Sadhguru that doesn't belong to any one religion.
It's a longer haul than our other temple trips, but it's also the one most people already have on their list — this trip handles the travel and logistics so a Coimbatore weekend actually happens instead of staying a someday plan.
Day by day
Drop-off: Bengaluru (same assembly point, dropped back after the trip)
Day 1
After an overnight drive and a few hours' rest, a day at the Isha Yoga Center below the Velliangiri hills. Adiyogi in the morning light, silence in the Dhyanalinga at midday, and the statue lit up after dark.
Depart Bengaluru (Friday night). First pickup at RMZ Ecospace, Bellandur, then Silk Board and Electronic City (near M5 Mall); exact spots and live location go on the trip WhatsApp group.
Arrive, check in and rest. A few hours' sleep. Pack clothes that cover shoulders and knees, as modest dress is expected across the Isha spaces.
Breakfast. Before the drive out to Isha, about 30 km west of Coimbatore.
Adiyogi and the Yogeshwara Linga. The 112-foot Adiyogi, recognised as the world's largest bust sculpture, is best photographed in the softer morning light. Devotees offer water and neem leaves at the Yogeshwara Linga in front.
Dhyanalinga meditation. The domed meditation space is open to people of all faiths. Aim to be seated for Nada Aradhana, the sound offering held 11:50–12:10. Silence is kept inside, so keep phones switched off.
Lunch on campus. The centre's vegetarian eateries serve simple meals, juices and snacks through the day.On your own
Afternoon at leisure. Rest through the heat, or stay on campus for the Theerthakund water bodies (open until 20:00) or Linga Bhairavi (reopens at 16:20).
Guru Pooja at Adiyogi. The daily evening offering at the statue; arrive early for a good spot as weekend crowds gather for the show.
Adiyogi Divya Darshanam. A video-imaging show projected onto the statue every evening at 7 pm, telling the story of Adiyogi. It is cancelled in the rain.
Return to stay, dinner. Back to the guesthouse or hotel; dinner on your own.On your own
Day 2
A relaxed breakfast and a morning at Perur Pateeswarar, a centuries-old Shiva temple on the Noyyal known for its golden Kanaka Sabha, before the long road back to Bengaluru.
Breakfast. At the guesthouse or hotel.
Check out. Bags into the Tempo Traveller before the morning stop.
Perur Pateeswarar Temple. An ancient Shiva temple on Siruvani Road, expanded by the Cholas and later dynasties; its Kanaka Sabha holds a gilded Nataraja and finely carved pillars. It closes at noon.
Lunch in Coimbatore. A Kongu-region vegetarian meal in the city before the highway.On your own
Depart for Bengaluru. Back via Salem and Krishnagiri with a tea break on the way.
Arrive Bengaluru, trip ends. Drop at Electronic City (M5 Mall), Silk Board and RMZ Ecospace; traffic on Hosur Road on a Sunday evening can add time.
